Honest take: with 1000 USD right now I'd split it three ways - 400 into learning (courses on protocol design, maybe a conference ticket), 400 into meeting people I've been talking to online for coffee and calls across different cities, and 200 as actual dry powder because the best opportunities come when you're already connected and informed, not when you're desperate. Seen too many people miss real plays because they were isolated.
